Formed in 1996 by four university students—Xabi San Martín (keyboard), Pablo Benegas (guitar), Álvaro Fuentes (bass guitar), and Haritz Garde (drums)—the group initially called themselves "Los Sin Nombre" (The Nameless). Their signature name was suggested by original vocalist Amaia Montero, who joined shortly after the band was formed.
